Me (at 20 weeks pregnant) with my sweet boy last night sharing the best hot cocoa of my life from my favorite coffee place. Still enjoying the 12 Days of Christmas! 🙂

I was inspired by Mandi’s post of her blog’s 10 most popular posts of 2012 to do the same for Carrots and list the most popular posts written this year on the blog.  Looks like readers were most interested in posts about literature for children, raising daughters, marriage, and our wild Catholic position on contraception 🙂 I’m truly indebted to each and every one of you who have shared, tweeted, and pinned my posts. That’s really what helps keep the lights on at Carrots and I appreciate each of my fantastic readers.

1. 10 Books You Must Read to Your Daughter (Or How to Keep Your Daughter from Ending Up Like That Horrid Girl in Twilight)

2. Why You Can’t Read Twilight: A Letter to My Daughter

3. My Unplanned Pregnancy, Or Why We Stopped Using Birth Control–For Good

4. 10 Books You Must Read to Your Son

5. Why Your Kids Need to Read Harry Potter

6. 10 Ways to Nurture Positive Body Image for Your Daughter

7. Marriage Is a Kind of Death

9. What’s the Big Deal About Birth Control?

10. AFP: Awesome Family Planning

What was your favorite post this year?

Thank you, my wonderful readers, for making blogging here such a delight in 2012! This has been the first year that I’ve “gotten serious” about writing and maintaining this blog and the friendships and connections I’ve made with my readers has been such an encouragement and joy to me (especially during the rough weeks I’ve experienced with severe morning sickness the past three/four months). Wishing you a wonderful new year!

With lots of love,

Haley

yes, your book lists were great. have you read peggy orenstein’s Cinderella Ate My Daughter: Dispatches from the Front Lines of the New Girlie-Girl Culture? while i don’t agree with all of her opinions and positions, there is some great stuff in there. i highly recommend it to parents with girls.

I haven’t read that one, Kate! I have been lazy about reading lately (pregnant brain) and now my list of books I want to read is looming like a black cloud over my head. I need to turn things around and get disciplined again. Going to the library for more picture books for the kiddos this week and I’ll check it out 🙂

I love all of these posts, so it’s hard to pick a favorite. I’m happy “10 Books You Must Read To Your Daughter” was so popular: it brought me to the blog in the first place. I have since been able to get to know your lovely family, if only virtually.

Wishing you a happy Christmastide and new year,
    Haley

We’re still loving that curriculum! Due to my horrible pregnancy nausea, we’ve only made it to Letter E. Hoping to get more accomplished before baby arrives in May!
