Welcome back to Good Music Monday at Carrots! Here’s a Spotify playlist just for you to enjoy for this last sizzling week of July (just a few more weeks of unbearable heat to go!). Summer feels like it's flying by at break neck speed. Friday Fashion Frivolity: Summatime! with Elizabeth & Clarke
Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch. Happy Friday! It's hot in Texas. So hot. So terribly hot. It's honestly been a somewhat mild summer until a couple of weeks ago and now we're in the PLEASE LET US SURVIVE UNTIL SEPTEMBER phase of summer. Not that I'm complaining. How Marriage Fuels the Creative Life: The Chestertons, Hamilton, and Chef’s Table
Give a warm welcome to today's guest poster, my dear friend and Fountains of Carrots partner in crime Christy Isinger! Like all beautiful, mysterious, and true things in life marriage is a thing that never fails to disappoint in providing surprisingly new and interesting revelations. This Week’s Miscellany: Vol. 158
This girl, y'all. If I had the energy she has in her little finger, my house would be so sparkling clean. It's been awhile since I shared a little Carrots fam update on the blog, so here. we. go. So I've been reading aloud from a Greek mythology book and The Jungle … [Read more...]
Why I Love the Whole30 (Even though I’ve never finished one)

I was still nursing my youngest and cutting out grains made my supply tank and I dropped weight too quickly. But this last time I wasn’t breastfeeding, I just have terrible self-control. I’m great at planning the meals and I even find … [Read more...]
Hospitality With No Flushing Toilets: What I’ve Learned
Having people over has always been our thing. Daniel loves to cook and I love to talk, so hosting friends for dinner has been part of our family culture ever since we tied the knot. And after having kids, hospitality became the only way we were going to see our friends because kids have early bedtimes and babysitting is expensive. I firmly believe that other than the Mass, there’s nothing that … [Read more...]
If I Could Cast Austen’s Mansfield Park…
I'm re-re-re-re-reading Mansfield Park right now. I've written before about how it's Austen's underrated novel and that we don't love Fanny Price as she deserves to be loved. What I find terribly disappointing that there isn't a decent film version of Mansfield Park. Granted, the 2007 Masterpiece Theatre version was tolerable, I suppose, but the casting was just not right. Haley Atwell as Mary … [Read more...]
