Cool weather is here! (No, not COLD weather–although our first day of 50 degree weather my 8yo desperately tried to convince everyone that it would snow–poor little Texan.) November in Texas basically means that somedays you’ll wear shorts and flip flops and other days you’ll need hats and scarves. It’s weird. Item #1: The Florence. I generally find sweaters to be super unflattering. Because I’m so short, I can drown in them. But I actually really like this one and have been wearing it a couple of times a week since cold weather hit. I love the zipper detail. It’s fun, but not TOO MUCH.
My 8yo son’s take: “I think the zippers are cool.”
Oh wait! Speaking of my 8yo, Mr. Benjamin himself wanted to be the fashion photog.
He did great and only cut my head out of 58% of the attempts.

Item #2: The Davis. I was nervous about this one because every peplum top I’ve ever tried on has looked terrible, but I actually love this. I’ve been wearing it with a pencil skirt to Mass. It’s also Unstainable® fabric that repels all water-, oil- and alcohol-based stains so big thumbs up there.
My 8yo photographer’s take: “I like how there’s an upside down ‘V’ at the top.”

Item #3: The Sloane. This is such a soft and versatile cardigan. I am LOVING it.
And check out this BEST SHIRT EVER from Storiarts. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, that really is an Anne Shirley t-shirt. I’m sure you caught the Carrots text but can you find “Anne Shirley” and “Green Gables” because that’s part of the design, too.
My 8yo son’s take: “How did they know you love Anne Shirley and have a blog called Carrots?!”

I signed up for and received my first Stitch Fix box last week and was disappointed by how expensive the sweaters were, especially since they were made from synthetic materials and felt kind of cheap. Have you ever had that problem with Stitch Fix? I selected the “As cheaply as possible” price option for tops and I’m wondering if that was why their was such a discrepancy between price and quality. Womp.
I have had that issue. Some stitch fix brands are amazing quality – others super meh!
I’ve had overwhelmingly positive results with SF quality, BUT I think I also designated in my style profile that I didn’t want synthetic fabrics. You can be super specific about which fabrics you like. I have a sweater, a jacket, and cardigan from SF that are basically my winter uniform. I would give super specific notes about what you were unhappy with and describe exactly what kind of quality you’re looking for. The experience can be vastly different depending on who your stylist is so when I find one I like, I request them over and over!

Oooo!One more thing. I’ve also discovered which brands they carry that I particularly like. Market & Spruce is one of my favorites–my favorite sweater and jacket are by them. That’s another thing you can request in your notes!

I have used them for at least 3 ‘fixes’ – and so LOVE it since I don’t have to fight and depress myself in the department store, and my stylist has found cool pieces I would never think of for myself!
