Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.

Y’all, it’s 10:30pm on a Friday night and I am just BARELY squeaking in the FFF before the clock strikes midnight.

This post contains affiliate links.

Cool weather is here! (No, not COLD weather–although our first day of 50 degree weather my 8yo desperately tried to convince everyone that it would snow–poor little Texan.) November in Texas basically means that somedays you’ll wear shorts and flip flops and other days you’ll need hats and scarves. It’s weird. But since we haven’t done an FFF in ages, let’s celebrate with checking out Elizabeth & Clarke’s fall line.

Don’t know what Elizabeth & Clarke is? It’s my favorite resource for beautiful tops that last. Basically it’s a subscription service for affordable designer-quality shirts that ships seasonally (every three months). You can choose to subscribe for 1, 2, or all 3 tops (but the price per top drops if you subscribe for 2 or 3). They mostly have basics in neutral colors, they offer full refunds on everything, and they care about ethical practices and fair wages for the production of their clothes.

And  I have a discount code for you! You can use CCARROTS10 at Elizabeth & Clarke to get 10% off your first box.

Ok, let’s do this:

Top: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke use CODE: CCARROTS10 for 10% off, Jeans: ThredUP, Boots: ThredUP , Hat: Gap? Maybe? Too old to remember, Purse: Connected in Hope.

Item #1: The Florence. I generally find sweaters to be super unflattering. Because I’m so short, I can drown in them. But I actually really like this one and have been wearing it a couple of times a week since cold weather hit. I love the zipper detail. It’s fun, but not TOO MUCH.

The Florence Elizabeth & Clarke

My 8yo son’s take: “I think the zippers are cool.”

Oh wait! Speaking of my 8yo, Mr. Benjamin himself wanted to be the fashion photog.

He did great and only cut my head out of 58% of the attempts.

And on to the next!

The David Elizabeth & Clarke Review

Top: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke use CODE: CCARROTS10 for 10% off, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Necklace: Stitch Fix, Shoes: ThredUP

Item #2: The Davis. I was nervous about this one because every peplum top I’ve ever tried on has looked terrible, but I actually love this. I’ve been wearing it with a pencil skirt to Mass. It’s also Unstainable® fabric that repels all water-, oil- and alcohol-based stains so big thumbs up there.

My 8yo photographer’s take: “I like how there’s an upside down ‘V’ at the top.”

The Sloane Elizabeth and Clarke Review

“Let me get my hair out of my face. Oh, you just took the picture. Ok, nevermind. Yes, you can play minecraft now.”

Cardigan: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke use CODE: CCARROTS10 for 10% off , Shirt c/o Storiarts, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Shoes: ThredUP

Item #3: The Sloane. This is such a soft and versatile cardigan. I am LOVING it.

And check out this BEST SHIRT EVER from Storiarts. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, that really is an Anne Shirley t-shirt. I’m sure you caught the Carrots text but can you find “Anne Shirley” and “Green Gables” because that’s part of the design, too.

Storiarts Anne of Green Gables

My 8yo son’s take: “How did they know you love Anne Shirley and have a blog called Carrots?!”

And there we have it, folks. Best shirt in the universe.

While we’re talking about fashion, one of my favorite companies, Stitch Fix is currently waiving their $20 styling fee for first time sign ups during the month of November. So if you’ve been eyeing the service for awhile but haven’t pulled the trigger, now is your chance to do so risk free.

If you’ve been following Carrots for awhile you know that I used Stitch Fix regularly for about 2.5 years to build up my “grown up wardrobe” (AKA, not just my well worn The Killers t-shirt with ratty jeans and flip flops). I love not having to shop and I love getting clothes picked out by a stylist especially for me delivered to my doorstep. And you only pay for the items you want to keep and send the rest back. So with the waived styling fee, even if you hate all five items, it won’t cost you a penny (but I’m pretty sure you’ll love something)! You can try it out by signing up with my handy dandy affiliate link.

Happy weekend, everybody! I’m going to be up to ears in book edits, but I hope YOU fit some fun in.

Lots of love,

Haley

I signed up for and received my first Stitch Fix box last week and was disappointed by how expensive the sweaters were, especially since they were made from synthetic materials and felt kind of cheap. Have you ever had that problem with Stitch Fix? I selected the “As cheaply as possible” price option for tops and I’m wondering if that was why their was such a discrepancy between price and quality. Womp.

I have had that issue. Some stitch fix brands are amazing quality – others super meh!

I’ve had overwhelmingly positive results with SF quality, BUT I think I also designated in my style profile that I didn’t want synthetic fabrics. You can be super specific about which fabrics you like. I have a sweater, a jacket, and cardigan from SF that are basically my winter uniform. I would give super specific notes about what you were unhappy with and describe exactly what kind of quality you’re looking for. The experience can be vastly different depending on who your stylist is so when I find one I like, I request them over and over!

Ohh, that’s a good idea! I’ll have to add that fabric preference to my profile. Thanks for the tip! :o)

Oooo! One more thing. I’ve also discovered which brands they carry that I particularly like. Market & Spruce is one of my favorites–my favorite sweater and jacket are by them. That’s another thing you can request in your notes!

I know exactly what you mean about peplum tops. They seem to flair out at exactly the wrong place on me. But the cut and design of that one is beautiful on you!

Hi Haley! I LOVE Stitch Fix – thank you!! I searched for reviews a few months ago and found your blog. I have used them for at least 3 ‘fixes’ – and so LOVE it since I don’t have to fight and depress myself in the department store, and my stylist has found cool pieces I would never think of for myself! Thank YOU for introducing me to Stitch Fix!
