Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.

Can you see Olaf in the window wanting to be a part of FFF? Fluffiest snugglebug.

Ok, so here’s the drill. I share a new box of Stitch Fix items, tell ya my thoughts, get my husband Daniel’s hilarious takes (which is really the only reason you’re reading this, right?), and share what I kept and what I sent back.

(I’m not gonna go into the details of the personal styling service Stitch Fix in this post, but if you want to know more you can check out my post about whether Stitch Fix is worth it. Here’s the basics: five items chosen just for you by your stylist arrive in a box to your doorstep. You try ‘em on and send back what you don’t want.)

Just look at Daniel. Face set like flint. Lens cap in hand. So pumped for another Friday Fashion Frivolity photo shoot!

This time I realized that I took pics of SOME of one SF box and SOME of a second but not of all of them. So I’m just mixin’ and matchin’, y’all. Mea culpa. Here goes:

Top: Golden Tote, Pants: Stitch Fix, Boots: (secondhand) ThredUp

Item #1: Brown leggings. I love the leggings. They were a great fit, but I have a couple of pairs of good leggings that fit great and I don’t have enough tunic-like tops to wear with them! So I decided to send these back.

Daniel’s Take:  “I mean what are they….tights? Riding pants?”

Jacket: Stitch Fix, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Boots: (secondhand) ThredUp

Items #2: Moto Jacket. I’ve been really wanting a moto jacket, but these one just felt a little baggy/clumpy in the arms. Maybe the moto jacket of my dreams doesn’t exist. I have tiny shoulders so if something fits in the bust, it’s often too big in the shoulders. And I’m a shorty, so things are often too long in the arms.

It just wasn’t quite what I wanted and since jackets are pricey, I decided to send it back.

Daniel’s Take: “Just a little too motorcycle gang wannabe kinda thing.”

Top: Stitch Fix , Dress underneath: (secondhand) ThredUp, Boots: (secondhand) ThredUp

Item #3: Cristobal Embroidered Mixed Material Top by Skies are Blue. And we have a winner! This top reminds me of something Anne of Green Gables would wear which is basically my measuring stick for choosing new apparel. I love it because I can dress it up with a skirt or wear it with jeans. A keeper!

Daniel’s Take: “Looks like the shirt a bad cowboy would wear in an old Western. Except it’s a modern take. A modern villainous cowboy…err….cowgirl.”

Thebes Knit Jacket from Market & Spruce

Jacket: Stitch Fix , Dress: (secondhand) ThredUp, Boots: secondhand from ThredUp

Item #4: Thebes Knit Jacket from Market & Spruce. So I cannot for the life of me get a picture that really does this jacket justice. It is NOT that orange-y red color. It’s a deep berry red. Almost wine-colored. I’ve been wearing it almost every single day. It’s perfect for Texas winter.

This is a much better depiction of the true color. Not orange-y at all!….but now that we have a cat, I should probably start using a lint roller. 😉

Daniel’s Take:”It looks like the jacket from Assassin’s Creed. There’s this video game about an assassin. It’s a COMPLIMENT.”

Dress: Stitch Fix, Sandals: (secondhand) ThredUp

Item #5: Brown/Sage dress. This one was just a 100% no for me. The shape is super unflattering, the color is meh. Just a big nope.

And I’d have to wear a special bra that wouldn’t show through the back so…..nope, nope nope. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Daniel’s Take: “It’s more of a sack, really, isn’t it?”

He ain’t wrong.

So I kept the embroidered black top and the red coat and send the rest back! What would you have kept?

Your hair is getting so long! And the dress looks like it would wrinkle very easily, which would make it a no even if it looked amazing on you.

So true! It was very wrinkly prone.

LOVE both those jackets, although agree about the fit on the moto — boo! So hard to find one that fits well / isn’t ridiculously expensive b/c real leather, etc. A dear friend had the best one ever from Target of all places, but I’ve never seen one there I liked.

Also, re: those kinds of dresses (loose, boho, belted) — I always WANT to like them but they always look like a strange pajama shirt on me!

Obsessed with your ThredUp boots, love that site.

ps — I love all your blog posts and read them all in due time, but these are the ones I am guaranteed to click through to right away, the second the email rolls in — not sure what that says about me, but keep them coming! 🙂

Ha! That’s funny. Sometimes I wonder if people are sick of the fashion posts, so that’s good to know~

Daniel’s right. The Assassin’s Creed jacket is awesome, and totally a compliment. If he’s a fan, he should see the movie. It was a lot of fun to watch!

Now I need to go find that jacket…

I love the jacket! Both the color and the style. I now officially need to knit a side-button, belted, fitted red jacket. I don’t know how I didn’t already know I needed that. And then another just like it in green.

I probably would have the red jacket and the top you picked. That last dress was such a sac. I almost liked it for a minute when I saw the back, but you were the voice of reason about those lace backed clothes. I am a sucker for pretty lace but then never wear it because I need to get a different bra
