Mazza Embroidered Tunic by Pixley from Stitch Fix

Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.

So here’s the drill. I share a new box of Stitch Fix items, tell ya my thoughts, get my husband Daniel’s take (which is really the only reason you’re reading this, right?), and share what I kept and what I sent back.

(I’m not gonna go into the details of the personal styling service Stitch Fix in this post, but if you want to know more you can check out my posts about whether Stitch Fix is worth it, how it compares to other styling services like Golden Tote. Here’s the basics: five items chosen just for you by your stylist arrive in a box to your doorstep. You try ‘em on and send back what you don’t want.)

Daniel had really been nagging me to do another fashion post. Because he just LOVES TAKING THE PHOTOS.

SF24Daniel

Bless him.

Ok, so I titled this one “The Problem with My Stitch Fix Stylist.” Because I have a problem: I want to buy EVERYTHING this woman picks out for me with her brilliant mind-reading wizardy. And so to stick to my budget, deciding which of the five things to keep is TORTURE. She’s just too good, so I requested to keep using her for every fix because this woman GETS ME.

Ready to see this fix?

Hardie Crochet Detail Top by Skies are Blue from Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, , Shorts: Stitch Fix , Shoes: Second-hand from ThredUp

Item #1: Hardie Crochet Detail Top by Skies are Blue. This top is lovely and totally me. I love the detailing and it’s breezy and perfect for Texas summer. The ONLY reason I didn’t keep this tops is because I do have plenty of tops I like in my closet right now and there were other items I wanted more in this fix. But it wasn’t easy to send back. P.S. I’ve been wearing these sandals I got used from ThredUp basically every day this summer. So glad I found an online consignment to replace Twice since they shut down!Hardie Crochet Detail Top by Skies are Blue from Stitch Fix

The crochet around the neck is so pretty!

Daniel’s Take:  “Didn’t they already send you this shirt? I know I’ve seen this before.”

Lonnie Distressed Boyfriend Short by Kut From the Kloth from Stitch Fix

Items #2: Lonnie Distressed Boyfriend Short by Kut From the Kloth. I asked my stylist for some cute shorts and I REALLY love these (I find that I almost always love this brand!) but they were just a TAD snug and there is no point in keeping shorts that are too tight because odds are you WON’T lose those five pounds you gained once you stopped breastfeeding even though you halfheartedly go on a walk once or twice a week and stopped eating an absurd amount of no bake cookies. This is getting autobiographical. The point is, they were just a little too tight and my thighs weren’t having it.

But I loved the idea of them! Definitely my style, but sent ’em back.

Daniel’s Take: “’Distressed Boyfriend’ is a really funny phrase to put in the name of pants.”

Misa Embroidered V-Neck Top by Skies are Blue from Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, , Shorts: Stitch Fix , Shoes: Used from ThredUp,

Item #3: Misa Embroidered V-Neck Top by Skies are Blue. I thought this white v-neck was beautiful and I only didn’t keep it because I knew I could only afford two things and wanted Items 4 and 5 more!

Pretty embroidery.

Daniel’s Take: “You know I like peasant shirts.”

Shay Knit Maxi Dress by Gilli from Stitch Fix

Dress: Stitch Fix , Shoes: DSW

Item #4: Shay Knit Maxi Dress by Gilli from Stitch Fix. All the heart eye emojis. I have been living in this dress since it arrived just before Fourth of July. Because I’m short, maxis can be tricky but this one is perfection. I usually don’t gravitate toward reds, but I am loving this one.

Sorry for the weird lighting on this one. I put my Canon on all the wrong settings before begging Daniel to snap this photo.

Daniel’s take: “I call this dress ‘The Eyes of America’ because it has patriotic colors but also giant eyes.”

Mazza Embroidered Tunic by Pixley from Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, Shorts: Stitch Fix , Shoes: Used from ThredUp,  Glasses: c/o Firmoo

Item #5:Mazza Embroidered Tunic by Pixley. Um, how did my stylist read my mind before I even knew I needed this? I have been surviving the Texas heat in this tunic, but I also plan to wear it a ridiculous amount with leggings in the fall.

The back is super cute, too. Definitely a keeper!

Daniel’s Take: “Now you have to go to a music festival.”

So the blue tunic top and the dress were what I kept, but I could have happily kept everything if the shorts had just a little more….ahem…stretch to them.

Until next time, and Happy Friday, friends!

I want that red top! And the white one! And I was on the fence about the tunic until I saw the fun cutout in the back. Your stylist did great!

Love everything, too. I would not have kept the white shirt, even though it is gorgeous, because it is white and with three kids it would be ruined around these parts.
That red top (and the dress, too I guess) are amazing on you. I don’t see you in red often (aside from the lipstick) and it is a great color on you.
I shy away from vibrant colors, but have also found the bright reds and pink and oranges look good on me even though I am SUPER pale.

    Great Fix!

LOVE that dress! I like Daniel’s comment about the eyes, because I did think of a peacock with the skirt part (peacocks are cool!).

“Distressed Boyfriend” is pretty great. I have a short described as “Shrunken Boy Fit,” possibly implying I have the physique of a shrunken boy…

I loved your husband’s comment about “The Eyes of America” dress!! Seems quite fitting, and I think you should wear it on Election Day! All of the selections were great, though.

The last time I did a stitch fix, I got a similar maxi dress, the same brand, and I love it SO much! I wear it all the time, and it even works for me now, at 500 weeks pregnant. I think I need it in every color and pattern!

Oh no! They didn’t send any mega-fails! Those are my favorite. =D And I am having JUST that problem as my baby is eating some solids. Apparently 1/4 c pureed green beans is roughly equal to 5 no-bake cookies filtered through Mom…

I received the blue tunic back in June and I loved it! But it shrunk so be careful with yours!

No bakes…sigh. I LOVE the white tunic, but with all the kiddos it’d be ruined in a heartbeat. 🙂

First- You look great in red. You might consider wearing it more. Second…I will look forward to more reviews from you, if for no other reason than Daniel’s comments. I’m still laughing over the “Didn’t they send you this top before?”. He’s clever and has a great sense of humor.

How do the gilli dresses run for size?

Sizing was what I expected, Katie. I was worried the small would be too long, because I’m super short (5’2″) but it’s PERFECT with a small heel and I can wear it with sandals with no heel, too.
