Fun2Fun Broden Crocket Neckline Top // Stitch Fix

Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.

So here’s the drill. I share a new box of Stitch Fix items, tell ya my thoughts, get my husband Daniel’s take, and share what I kept and what I sent back. (This time I’m also sharing the Elizabeth & Clarke fall collection!)

(I’m not gonna go into the details of the personal styling service Stitch Fix in this post, but if you want to know more you can check out my posts about whether Stitch Fix is worth it, how it compares to other styling services like Golden Tote. Here’s the basics: five items chosen just for you by your stylist arrive in a box to your doorstep. You try ‘em on and send back what you don’t want.)

After two months of family road tripping, Daniel couldn’t WAIT to get back to photographing for my fashion posts. He was so thrilled to get back to snapping photos that I almost convinced him to wear a shirt. Maybe next time. And this is our first fashion post at the farm! Woohoo! Ok, Item #1 here we go:

Morada Embroidery Detail Top Stitch FIx

Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Shoes: Target

Item #1: Morada Embroidery Detail Top. I absolutely love this top. It’s precisely my style. I’m a big fan of the embroidery and although I’m not usually a ruffly kinda gal, I love the ruffle on this top.

So yes, absolutely kept it. But I will tell you a sad story. There was a little shrinkage when I washed it because I am allergic to hadnwashing I just throw everything fragile on cold, delicate cycle. But truthfully, this top was a little worse for wear afterward. So ye have been warned.

Daniel’s Take: “I like the color. Like a French melon.“

Kay Skinny Jean: Liverpool for Stitch Fix

Jeans: Stitch Fix, Sandals: Target

Item #2: Kay Skinny Jean: Liverpool. My chagrin at the shirt shrinkage is completely erased by how much I LOVE these jeans. I had worn out a pair of Kensie jeans I got from Stitch Fix last year because I wore them almost everyday and I was very much in need of some new daily denim. I requested girlfriend jeans. I’m not sure if these are girlfriend jeans, but whatever they are, I’m a happy camper.

Kay Skinny Jean: Liverpool for Stitch Fix

And while we have a close up view of these here sandals, they were the best $15 purchase I ever made. I have a pair in black and a pair in brown from Target and I’ve worn them daily for two summers. Win.

Daniel’s Take: “Yeah, I like them. I mean, kinda hard to reinvent them.”

Skies Are Blue top Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Sandals: Target

Item #3: Skies are Blue embroidered top. This one is a near miss for me.

I mean it’s fine. I like it. But I really liked the other tops in this fix more, so it was easy to pass on this one.

Daniel’s Take: “Meh. The pattern makes me think of a shower curtain from Target.”

Fun2Fun Broden Crocket Neckline Top // Stitch Fix

Shirt: Stitch Fix, Jeans: Stitch Fix, Shoes: Target

Item #4: Broden Crocket Neckline Top: Fun2Fun. THIS one on the other hand, I adore. The color, the crocheted neck. So cute. And it’s still very much summer in TX. Mid-90s, folks. So I’ve got several weeks to wear this one before any real cold weather arrives.

Fun2Fun Broden Crocket Neckline Top // Stitch Fix

Daniel’s Take: “*Laura Ingalls Wilder voice* Look at the fine stitching! It must have taken you all winter sitting by the stove.”

Stitch Fix skirt.

Top: Target, Skirt: Stitch Fix, Shoes: DSW

Item #5: Patterned Skirt. Eh. I really wanted a good skirt. I have a classy black pencil skirt and a casual denim skirt and I’d like to branch out a little. But I don’t think this is the direction I want to branch out. The fit is a little off and I’m just not into the style. I’ve got one fancy black skirt for Mass and I just don’t know what I’d do with this one or what I’d wear it with.

Stitch Fix Patterned Skirt

Yeah, I just don’t think it’s a flattering shape.

SF15Item53

Remember those Target sandals I wear every blessed day? Tan line PROOF.

Daniel’s Take: “I just don’t know what you’d wear it with. Unless it was a black and white shirt. And you looked like a zebra. Which is a GREAT idea.”

As for this fix as a whole, I’m very pleased Not having to try on jeans for hours and get ones that fit without leaving my house? That is my happy place. And then two winning shirts. My stylist is on a roll!

And……next up! Elizabeth & Clarke offered to send me a box of their fall collection and I said, yes, please! It’s basically a subscription service for designer-quality shirts that ships seasonally (every three months). They mostly have basics in neutral colors. And they offer full refunds on everything.

So here goes!

Hutton Tee from Elizabeth and Clarke

Top: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke, Shorts: Stitch Fix, Sandals: Target, Bag: Anhaica

Item #1: The Hutton Tee. I have issues with obtaining wardrobe basics. I wear my basics all the time but when I’m purchasing, I usually walk right by and grab the more exciting stuff on the rack. But that means that I often have nothing that mixes and matches well. This tee is already a fave and it’s super soft and comfy. And I love the boatneck.

SF15EC12

Daniel’s Take: “You look ready for the beach! Too bad you just moved to central Texas.”

This is when Daniel got bored when I was changing outfits and started taking pictures of the pigs:

Pigs

I kid you not.

Ok, moving on.

The Whitney by Elizabeth & Clarke

Top: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote, Sandals: Target, Necklace: chloe & isabel

Item #2: The Whitney. So I almost died while trying to get a photo of this one for you. It’s a million degrees in TX and this is a sweater. So I know that the sandals maybe aren’t the best fashion choice but I was just trying to STAY ALIVE. At first glance it’s a cute, basic sweater/sweatshirt kinda situation, yes?

The Whitney, Elizabeth & Clarke

But just get ready. Are you ready?!

The Whitney by Elizabeth & Clarke

You weren’t ready, were you? So what say you now? No, really, tell me because I absolutely don’t know what I think about the pleaty situation. But Daniel does.

Daniel’s Take: “It’s like your uniform for a Star Trek spin off.”

The Isabella by Elizabeth & Clarke

Top: c/o Elizabeth & Clarke, Jeans: Old Navy, Sandals: Target

Item #3: The Isabella. This is my favorite of the three tops from Elizabeth & Clarke. It’s simple, but the vegan leather collar is super cute and a little edgy. And remember how I wasn’t sure how to feel about the back of the grey sweater?

The Isabella Elizabeth & Clarke

Well here we have another unorthodox back, but this time I know exactly how to feel about it. I LOVE it. It makes me think of Lady Mary Crawley and that’s always a good thing. Super fun.

The Isabella by Elizabeth & Clarke

Daniel’s Take: “Cute school goth.”

So there you have it folks. What did you think of Elizabeth & Clarke? I’m wearing the black top as I type at this little coffee shop, so I think I’m a fan. Be sure to check out their lovely winter collection.

Great fix! And I LOVE your husband’s responses! haha. The pictures of the pigs are also awesome, so glad I found your blog! It’s still very much summer where I live too (currently 109!) so I’m definitely pinning a few of these tanks on my board 🙂

So don’t hate me… but, I really like the black and white skirt on you. You look very thin in it (flat tummy). 🙂 You can pair it with the the crocket neck top you kept. With at patterned skirt like that you can pair it with any solid top or a tone-on-tone patterned top. (IMHO) And it can be really fun with a pop of color on top-something bold like turquoise or purple, or hot pink.

Anyway. I like the tops you kept! The first of the Clarke one’s is really nice – like the boat neck. Looks cool and comfy. I may have to go look for that for myself. 🙂

I hear ya. I didn’t hate the skirt, I just know I’d reach for my black pencil skirt every time instead. And thanks!

Don’t quote me on this, Angie, but I THINK I saw that if you’re a subscriber you can order from previous collections. But I’m sure the E&C customer service could verify that for you!

Yup. Daniel’s comments were apt and amusing (but that may or may not have been due to the glass of red that I had in hand while reading this)… Thanks for sharing! If the budget loosens up a bit I may have to look into this Stitch Fix thing. 🙂

Aw, thanks, Michele! It turned wavy after the kiddos were born and I’m just learning how to wear it wavy. Still a newbie. Scrunching and all that jazz.

Oooh I actually love the pleat at the back of the Whitney top, and that color on you is great. A little Star Trek? Maybe, but still classy.

What sort of bra do you wear with the crochet top? I love the look, but I cannot stand bra straps showing. I’m nursing right now so it might not be possible.
