Happy weekend, friends! I didn’t post anything on Easter weekend so we’ve got some catching up to do.

photo 2-56

We went to the Easter Vigil and everyone survived! The big kids were great and Gwen was…..a toddler. But I’m so glad we went. It’s so exciting and the kids love it.

The Quotable Benjamin:

Me: “How’d you get so cute?”
Benjamin, while eating trail mix (6 years): “Well, I think it’s just what God had planned for me. Here, have a peanut for being such a great mom.”

What I’m Into:

Mad Men, y’all. Christy and I will be podcasting about it with a special guest soon and I have a LOT of catching up to do. I’m only in season 3.

OK, get ready for a Gwen photo dump because I can’t help myself:

Serious face, serious coloring.

Breakfast with Daddy.

Oh! And the baby name site Nameberry was talking about Gwen because of her awesome middle name (Stellamaris)! A reader tipped me off (thanks, Holly!). So now she’s famous or something.

Podcast:

This week we talked to my husband Daniel and Brandon McGinley about Catholic fatherhood, spiritual leadership, and how men feel about NFP. We unofficially refer to it as the Dadfest episode. It was a really fun episode.

And last night Daniel and I went out on the town to see the Avett Brothers. It was so good, y’all. We had to leave a little early (because I told the babysitter we’d be back at 10 because I’m an old lady and forgot how late concerts go) but it was pretty fantastic. Here’s one of my favorite songs they played last night:

I am so jealous you went to the Avett Brothers concert. I haven’t been to a concert in…8 years? I’ve been trying to go to an Avett Brothers concert for the past two years but every time they have been in NC, we’ve been in Colorado (visiting, or we were still living there just weeks before moving here) and every time they’ve been in Colorado, we’ve been in NC (they were in Denver a few days after we left to move here). It’s been one of those things that is just insane – how can we ALWAYS have such bad luck and miss them?

They’ve become one of our favorite bands over the past couple of years, for sure.

I’ve been in love with the Avett Brothers for like ten years now and even though I should be used to it, I still get surprised any time someone mentions them lol. They are the best!

About five years ago I heard “Murder in the City” and I’ve been a little in love with them ever since. 😉
