Friday Fashion Frivolity: Stitch Fix Fashion Break (And They Have Maternity Now!)

Every so often, we chat fashion at Carrots. I hope it feels like going shopping with a friend, but not having to try on jeans….or leave your couch.

March has been busy, friends. The house is on the market and we had five little guests staying with us for a few nights while their baby twin brothers were being born, and Daniel and I have some big projects brewing so….let’s take a little Stitch Fix fashion break, shall we?

(I’m not gonna go into the details of the personal styling service Stitch Fix here, but if you want to know more you can check out my posts about whether Stitch Fix is worth it, how it compares to other styling services like Golden Tote. Here’s all you need to know: five items chosen just for you by your stylist arrive in a box to your doorstep. You try ’em on and send back what you don’t want.)

I wrangled my long-suffering husband into taking a break from holding chickens and snapping some photos, so let’s get to it!

Stitch Fix Mess Skirt // Carrots for Michaelmas

Top: Stitch Fix, Skirt: Stitch Fix

Item #1: Black Mesh Skirt. At first glance it looks like a yes…..but that’s just because you haven’t seen the bottom which is….weird:

Stitch Fix Mess Skirt // Carrots for Michaelmas

I mean….what’s with the different lengths of the slip and the mesh here?

Stitch Fix Mess Skirt // Carrots for Michaelmas

Maybe I’m just not fashion forward enough for this skirt. And, the only skirt I own that I really like is also black (my Lady Mary Crawley skirt), so I had no qualms about sending this skirt I did NOT really like back from whence it came.

Daniel’s Take: “It’s like it’s a joke about fishnets.”

Alright, on to greener pastures.

Tyson Split Neck Blouse by Renee C Stitch Fix

Shirt: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote, Necklace: chloe +isabel, Shoes: Blowfish from Twice

Item #2: Tyson Split Neck Blouse: Renee C. Yes, please. I am definitely in the mood for cute, warm weather tops. Sorry about my feet being cut off. Maybe I should start paying my faithful photographer or something.

Tyson Split Neck Blouse by Renee C Stitch Fix

Aha. There’s my feet. Thanks, Daniel. You’re the best.

Tyson Split Neck Blouse by Renee C Stitch Fix

See? It’s purty! I love how breathable it is without showing too much skin or having to deal with bra strap issues.

Tyson Split Neck Blouse by Renee C Stitch Fix

I’ve been wearing approximately it 84% of the time since the weather turned warm.

Daniel take: “I like it. I’m not as excited about it as you are….I mean…I’m not going to wear it myself…so….”

Renee C top Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote,, Shoes: DSW

Item #3: Boho Top: Renee C. It was so comfortable and breezy that I also kept it but…

Daniel’s Take: “So close. If the sleeves were longer? There’s a lot of ifs. It’s like whoever made it didn’t understand human proportions.”

Renee C top Stitch Fix

I really liked the colors, it was just something about the sleeves?

Renee C top Stitch Fix

Ok, movin’ on.

Black and White Boho Top Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, Jeans: c/o Golden Tote, Shoes: Target

Item #4: Black and White Patterned Top. I don’t hate the fit, the pattern is just soooooo not me. The little patches of checkers make me think of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Although I did dress up as Dorothy for Halloween multiple Octobers as a child, I’m not as excited about dressing up as Dorothy in 2015.

Daniel’s Take: “#4: “It’s like you’re a bad abstract painting.”

Black and White Boho Top Stitch Fix

Keep smiling, bad abstract painting.

I do enjoy flowy tops that cover the bum so that I can wear leggings or super skinny jeans without feeling tacky. Tacky is a southern girl’s nightmare of nightmares.

OK, and the final winner:

Ignacio Tie Neck Crochet Top by Daniel Rainn Stitch Fix

Top: Stitch Fix, Pants: Gap (used from Twice), Shoes: Blowfish (used from Twice)

Item #5: Ignacio Tie Neck Crochet Top: Daniel Rainn. Losin’ the light here with these photos. Sorry, y’all.

I love me some crochet/lacy goodness. I was a teensy bit on the fence about whether to keep it, but I did and have worn it several times in the past couple of weeks, so I think it was a good call.

Daniel’s Take: “Yeah. Cool. Peasant chic. I’m with it.”

And that’s it for this fix, folks!

Oh! And I almost forgot! I just got the memo that Stitch Fix is now offering maternity clothes! I know a bunch of you have told me that the one thing holding you back from ordering a fix is that they don’t carry maternity but….now they do!  You just sign up, update your profile with your due date, and let your stylist know what you’re looking for. Your stylist will take it from there!

And as a reward for making it to the end of this post….

Ta da! My totally adorable teensy baby godson! Prayers for sweet Finnian and his twin brother Benedict to pack on those pounds and become champion nursers. Weight gain and nursing have been a struggle so far. And for their awesome parents (and five brothers and sisters) to get enough sleep to survive the next few months!

I am so in love with the last top. Looks great on you. Too bad about that skirt, because it looked eally “you” in the first pic.

Congrats to the family of beautiful twins. Mine are almost one month old, born at 37 weeks and we had nursing/weight gain issues, too. It was so stressful for me at first I considered giving up daily. But, I stuck it out and they are both doing well with nursing and we haven’t had to supplement in weeks. Prayers for thier success at nursing and weight gain, too. Its such a hard thing to be concerned with!

The top dress was so cute at first…but your right, the bottom is weird. Love the last navy top, so cute on you! And those names…so adorable 🙂

Those sleeves you were concerned about – my favorite kind! My arms are short and anything with long sleeves (and this is upstate NY so, majority of the year) has to be rolled up and gets wet every time you wash anything (like your hands!). I love 3/4 length sleeves and I think they look perfectly appropriate for the “weight” (warmth) of that pretty shirt. 🙂

In case anyone is reading this and is pregnant and on the fence, I am due in June and desperately needed some maternity clothes. I went shopping and ended up in tears. Nothing looked good on me and everything made me feel frumpy and ugly. So I sat down in tears and signed up for Stitch Fix (with Haley’s link of course so she could get some credit) as a HAIL MARY pass and I have been SO GRATEFUL! I wear Stitch Fix maternity stuff basically every day. Yay!

I kind of really LOVE that second blouse with the funny sleeves! It looks super cute on you and I’m always pushing my sleeves up to my forearms anyway… 😛 Also, maternity StitchFix = WHAT! I almost (not really because baby #3 is totally still a very needy baby) but almost want to be pregnant so I can jump on that bandwagon.

StitchFix has maternity?! I’m so excited! I was excited about using it before, but then realized that at some point after we both have work, we’ll be switching to TTW and then I realized that this would mean that StitchFix would be a moot point. (And then I realized how much I hated shopping for maternity clothes – even more than I hate shopping for regular clothes – and wished that Stitch Fix offered maternity. ) You have made my day, lady!!! 😀
Also, I really do love your fashion posts. I am not a “fashionista” by any stretch of the imagination, but I can’t wait to read your different Stitch Fix posts.

You look super cute, even in the crazy skirt.
this fashion post was just what I need while sipping my afternoon coffee.
My Hubby is being initiated into the Catholic church this Easter (yay!) And I’ll be shopping for something nice to put on my post third baby body.
Maybe some day stitch fix will send to Canada?

Love love LOOOOOOVE the sleeveless printed top! The sleeve/neckline detail is so interesting, and I love the colors and pattern! I’m heart eye emoji-ing over here… I so want it in my size!

Agreed about the skirt. It need the bottom chopped off and hemmed up to match the length of the underskirt. Then it would be a good one!

Oh my goodness. The first pic, I was like…Aweome job Stitch Fix…pause for zoom out…oh, no. What is with that skirt? I totally agree with Daniel’s take on it being a joke on fishnets. I kept one pair of pants this month; everything else went back. The pants were perfect, though! I’m trying out LeTote this month. Have you tried it?

The boho top looks fun, and appropriate for southern weather. The colors compliment you, and the “Bracelet Sleeves” will actually give you a chance to show off fun boho bracelets or rings. You’re right on the black-and-white top reminding you of Dorothy, but then again, gingham is in now and this one is unique and can be worn with different types/colors of accessories (my reason for loving b&w). Yay for new clothes 🙂

Sooooo…..that skirt. I was SO DISSAPOINTED after the scroll-down because I assumed it was floor length and it looked so very modern-Victorian awesomeoness. Sigh. They really seem to be trying to convince people on that piece, though: http://blog.stitchfix.com/trend-alert-mesh-skirt-three-ways/

Give it up, StitchFix. Everything else you have is better. EVERYTHING!! lol 🙂
