Ready for Advent?! (100% Beeswax Advent Candle Giveaway!)

Welcome to Carrots! I'm so glad you're here. This is where I share thoughts on liturgical living, faith, parenting, culture, and an extra dose of Jane Austen. You can sign up for my email newsletter here to stay in touch, or look me up on Instagram!

Welcome to Carrots! I'm so glad you're back. You can sign up for my email newsletter here to stay in touch, or look me up on Instagram!

This giveaway is sponsored by Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles.

As soon as Halloween, All Saints, and All Souls Day are over, my mind turns to Advent. It’s like I suddenly realize it’s just around the corner (it starts November 30th). And it’s time for one of my favorite giveaways of the year! Yay!

My favorite Advent tradition is the Advent wreath (and it’s the simplest one to start with if you’re just beginning to observe the Christian Year). I’m generally a last-minute planner, but somehow I remember to order candles in time! If you haven’t ordered yours yet, you’re in luck, because I have some gorgeous Advent stuff to giveaway: one Advent candle-making kit and a solid brass Advent candle ring.

Advent

For the past six years, I’ve been ordering my Advent candles (and lately, Advent candle-making kits because the kids have a blast) from Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles because they’re not only prettier than the run-of-the-mill set, but they’re also made of 100% beeswax which makes my crunchy heart glad because there’s no nasty toxic ingredients.

But beeswax candles are also liturgically appropriate. Did you know that religious candles were traditionally made of beeswax and candles used in Catholic churches are still supposed to be at least 51% beeswax? They burn purer and have that sweet beeswax scent and I can’t get enough of them.

Advent Candle Making Kit // Carrots for Michaelmas

Anyhow, since we’ve been ordering the Advent Candle Making Kit the past couple of years instead of the ready-made Advent candles, the kids help me roll the beeswax sheets around the wick and it’s become a special tradition to make them together. Lucy really got the hang of it this year. And Gwen did her best to be part of what the “big kids” were doing.

Advent Candle Kit // Carrots for Michaelmas

For being made by a five-year-old and a three-year-old with only a teensy bit of guidance from me, I think they turned out great!

Advent Candle Kit // Carrots for Michaelmas

Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles offers free shipping on the candle kits and they also make Advent tapers, votives, etc., if you’re not interested in rolling the sheets yourself. And you can enter to win $25 gift certificate by entering their Make Your Own Candles contest.

OK, so to enter the giveaway...(Only for Carrots readers in the United States and Canada for shipping reasons)

1. Mandatory entry: Visit the Toadily Handmade website and then come back and leave a comment at Carrots telling us about your favorite candles.

2. Additional entry:  “Like” Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles on Facebook and leave a comment saying you did.

3. Additional entry: Pin this post to Pinterest and leave a comment saying you did.

I will choose a winner by random number generator. Giveaway ends on Friday, November 7th at midnight EST. Good luck, friends!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. Review and giveaway items were provided by Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles. All opinions are my own. I only promote products I would purchase myself and I love giving great things away to my awesome readers.

I LOVED the candle-making kit last year. I bought the 3 together and made them with friends to be blessed for Candlemas so we could tell ourselves we weren’t late making them, just early and liturgically appropriate! I also love the Easter votives and how you used them for your kids’ Easter baskets last year–might do that now that I have an Easter basket to make! And I love the floating candles too–my mum loves to use those so I might get her the Shamrock set for Christmas (she decorates for St. Patrick’s day like people decorate for Christmas!)

Yay! I LOVE this idea!!!! I did all three, pinned, visited the website and liked them on fb. My favorite things on their website are all the kits. My very favorite is this exact advent kit, closely followed by the sushi making kit, though I don’t like sushi, I adore that. It would be so fun with the kids. I will definitely check back with them because I would love to see more kits to make seasonal things with the kids and silly things like the sushi, that the kids could make at a birthday party, etc. I hope I win! I am just beginning to observe more of the catholic year as a convert myself and anything I hand make with the kiddos definitely sticks year after year. Thank you for posting this! Love your blog!

Welcome! I’m Haley Stewart, a bookish mama of four and wife to a beekeeper. Writer, speaker, podcaster, and Catholic convert. Homeschooling, bacon-eating, and bright red lipstick-wearing Jane Austen aficionado. My first book, The Grace of Enough: Pursuing Less and Living More in a Throwaway Culture is available now!
