First of all, thank you so much for the outpouring of love and congrats about our new pregnancy. Your comments and emails meant so much! Especially because of the week I had last week… Remember that stomach flu I told you I caught? Yeah, not the stomach flu. Just morning sickness going craaaaaaazy. I always get terrible morning sickness but not being able to keep water down even after trying every morning sickness remedy I know? That was a new low for me.

My week consisted of:

Oh my. So much puking.

Losing 4 lbs. (not good for a pregnant lady!)

Not being able to get out of bed.

Letting the kids watch Bob the Builder all day with a cereal box in hand for sustenance. (CEREAL EVERYWHERE)

Calling my mom to come over and babysit because I was stuck laying down on the kitchen floor (couldn’t quite make it to the toaster to make myself a waffle) and couldn’t get up to get Lucy out of her high chair.

Super great parenting week, right?

Anyhow, my midwife called to confirm that I had a UTI (will I EVER get through the first trimester without a UTI?) and would need some antibiotics. “Yeah, right!” I chortled. “I can’t even keep water down. I’ve lost 4 lbs. There’s no way I can stomach antibiotics that make me puke when I’m NOT pregnant.”

“Um…..let me put you on Zofran, honey.”

And this let-me-fix-it-myself-with-natural-remedies-I-don’t-want-your-drugs mama said “YES! By George, YES! GIMME GIMME GIMME, I’M DYING!”

Now I’m doing cool things like:

Leaving my house occasionally

Getting dressed in the morning

Eating FOOD

Mothering without Netflix

(9.5 weeks pregnant, after Zofran entered my life. I know I’m already showing an absurd amount but I am a shorty. Yes, our front porch area is always messy.)

I now have one foot in the land of the living. Coming up at Carrots in the near future: Lucy’s little low-key birthday, the Catholic preschool curriculum we LOVE, toddlerwearing, and an awesome giveaway for you!

I know that I’m sooooo behind on responding to comments. Mea culpa! Reading your wonderful comments in bed from my phone during the week of misery was such an encouragement and someday I will catch up!

Oh my gosh. If we are ever pregnant again, I might have to finally break down and agree to the Zofran after this story. I refused last time, mostly because my husband was unemployed at the time and was able to do all the work of both mother and father for months and months and months on end. And ignore my requests for euthanasia concurrently. He’s so swell.

    You look fantabulous!

It really is doing wonders for me. And talking to other moms who’ve taken it before, it seems like once you get things under control you only have to take one once a day or every two days. I think I’ll just slowly wean myself off. But seriously. AMAZING. I did the dishes today. And returned all my overdue library books. I KNOW, RIGHT?! SUPER PRODUCTIVE.

      And thank you!

So good to hear you are feeling semi-normal again! You look amazing. I love your dress!

It’s funny. I have tons of crunchy friends and oddly zofran seems to be the only thing they will all say yes too. I haven’t dealt with much morning sickness in the past. I am holding out hope that I never do. Just watching my friends deal with it scares me enough! I cannot imagine what it must be like to deal with that and two littles.

Thank you! My mother-in-law gifted it to me for my birthday. She is an amazing gift-giver and most everything I own that’s cute is from her.

Hopefully you’re just one of the lucky morning-sickness free mamas that I’m very very jealous of 😉

Just started following your blog, where have I been?!?!
I cannot imagine being that sick, I complain at the first twinge of nausea, you are a saint. So glad you are feeling a little better and able to eat.
I just gave birth to my own little Lucy last week 🙂 And love love love your super cute bump & outfit!

Welcome! But, don’t be misled. I’m SUCH a whiner! My poor husband is the saint because he has to listen to me gripe for weeks on end and remain sympathetic.

Congrats on your sweet Lucy! I skipped over to your blog and saw pics. WHAT A DOLL!

I hear zofran is a miracle worker! Despite my tendency to not throw up much and instead to simply be nauseated ALL the time, I have managed to lose almost 6 pounds these long 9 weeks (can’t imagine how sick you must have been to lose four in one week!). And don’t worry, I always look pregnant instantly! It’s all the pregnancies back to back!

I’ve been thinking of you feeling sick while I’ve been feeling sick! Sorry you’ve been feeling so crummy while trying to keep up with all those wonderful, wild boys. Whew. Almost out of the first trimester, though, right?

I seriously looked pregnant before I even took the test. I haven’t had any strangers ask me if I’m pregnant yet, though. I’m actually surprised, because people are BOLD.

Found out I’m pregnant last weekend- I’ve been nauseus all week so I’ve taken a test. But It’s nothing compared to my first pregnancy. I was on diclectin for 7 months or else I wouldn’t keep a thing inside. Hope this fades out fast for you!!

Oh, Haley, I totally feel for you. I ended up on IV Zofran with this last pregnancy. I was the same as you- parenting with tv, having my parents watch my son, having them come over just to change a diaper, because I. just. couldn’t.

Mine lasted the majority of the pregnancy. As such, my dream of having four children, went down to the two I have. I cannot put my body and my family through that terror again.

I hope you continue to feel better and the Zofran becomes unnecessary very soon!!

I’m sorry you had such a rough time, too! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thanked God that we have parents in town. I really don’t know what I would do otherwise! I feel like getting me through my pregnancies is a team effort, haha.

And thank you! I’m 10ish weeks so hopefully in another month the situation will be much better.

The WHOLE time! You poor baby! My first pregnancy I was sick until 6 months but I’ve never been sick the entire time. Hopefully you won’t have any at all this time around! You definitely deserve an easier time. How far along are you?

Hey Haley! Not to ask a question totally off topic but a while back you posted a kitchen tower that your husband had built…do you have plans for it you could share? We’d like to build one. Thanks.
