A TWM on a THURSDAY, you ask? I know. What are things coming to! But I didn’t do one last Friday because we were all sick AND prepping for the 10th anniversary party of my dreams and Gwen’s 3rd birthday. So, mea culpa. I was overwhelmed, emotional, and down and out with a cold (it was a super fun week to be around me!).

So here we are. Almost a week late. Ta da!

After a week of being stuck inside due to rain and flooding while everyone was sick (ahhhhh!), we partied hard for our 10th anniversary and then followed it up on Memorial Day with some festivities for Gwen’s birthday.

That’s a little birthday card from our friend Bryce she got at our anniversary party. Photobomb by Mr. Bates, our friends’ dog. Photo by the lovely Holly Fish.

Daniel had the day off from work for Memorial Day, but we didn’t have party plans because we’d JUST had a big thing for our anniversary and we were wiped out. So we started out sweet Gwen’s day with breakfast tacos at our favorite place, had a leisurely morning and nap, and then made nachos and headed for Heritage Creamery, a new locally-sourced ice cream place because ice cream was the birthday girl’s one request!

A good time was had by all.

I was feeling a little guilty Gwen didn’t get her own party. But it was such a sweet day that I think it all worked out for the best.

How cute is this ice cream place?!

I assuaged my lack-of-party guilt by baking a gluten-free chocolate cake for farm lunch the following day.

If I told you that none of my kids stuck their fingers in the icing, I would be telling you a big fat lie.

Gwen was so EXCITED about having a birthday. She is a fiery tornado of joy.

Gwen…what a cutie. Also, can we pause to appreciate a dog named Mr. Bates? So good.
