Happy Feast of the Assumption! You probably didn’t notice that I haven’t been around much this week. But, I’ve been almost completely unplugged from the blog, email, and social media while we’re enjoying a week in the NC mountains with my extended family. I’m just popping in today to say I missed ya!

It’s actually been a good week to have almost no internet access. Every time I try to check in, all the tragedy is overwhelming. And it’s not just news headlines, a dear friend lost a longed-for little one after we had all hoped and prayed for a healthy pregnancy and a new baby for her family. Then a friend of my husband’s passed away after a battle with cancer. While the heaviness weighs on me, I’m trying to savor the sweetness of this precious week with my family and saying many prayers in the quiet of my heart.

So, before I sneak away for a few more days unplugged, here’s some moments I don’t want to forget…

“Don’t worry about cooking dinner, Mama. We caught a crawfish down at the creek!”

Daniel took the kids for an little adventure and they came back with a crawfish and the biggest grins you’ve ever seen. “Matthew Crawley” is a beloved mountain pet who will be set free in his natural habitat when we depart.

Oh! And my friend Katie at Kitchen Stewardship is offering 35% off on her ebook “The Healthy Lunchbox“* from now until 9/7/14. The code is “NOSTRESSLUNCH” 🙂

    Hi Haley,
I’ve been enjoying your blog for a while – although Protestant with no kids yet, I love your perspective on God, the church year, and life and am stocking up ideas for whenever our family should grow! “Matthew Crawley” finally inspired me to say hello – we may have been known to give the appellation “Mr. Molesley’s Muesli” to the last batch. So, hello and cheers!
    Hannah D.
