Call me the Craigslist Queen, y’all, because we got the find of the century! Actually I just got really lucky, because on the day I decided the kiddos really need a backyard swing set, someone posted this bad boy and with the help of all our male extended family members and a Uhaul, we transported it to our house. Now we just need to set up the swing part.

In the meantime, Lucy is totally digging it. She’s so in love with it that she sobs whenever it’s time to come inside.

The Quotable Benjamin:

“The beginning of this song is really epic, don’t you think?”

In case you’re wondering, the song in question is called “Frog Trouble”…but he’s right…it’s a bit epic.

Benjamin: “What movie were you watching last night?”
Me: “Daddy and I started The Great Gatsby.”
Benjamin: “Is this Gatsby guy good or bad?”
Me: “Well….um…he….it’s tricky….erm…..”

Discuss with your college English class in 15 years, Mr. Man.

The Quotable Lucy:

Lucy: “Dat bird is buggin’ me.”
Me: “Why?”
Lucy: “Wif all it’s tweetin’!”

Sometimes my sweet little girl sounds like a crotchety old man. So funny.

The Book:

We’re plugging away! The main content is almost done and we just need to do some editing on the introductory material and then set up all the technical stuff for launching it from this site. Woohoo! Light at the end of the tunnel!

And the giveaway winner for the Mandi Richards Lilla Rose prize is Genevieve! You’ll be getting an email from Mandi soon, Genevieve. And even if you didn’t win, be sure to hop over to Mandi’s site to see all the beautiful headbands, hair pins, and flexis!

And introducing new Carrots sponsor Toadily Handmade Beeswax Candles! I have been buying their Advent candles for the past three years because they are 100% natural and wonderful and you have the option of a fun, kid-friendly candle-making kit. I’m really excited to host a giveaway with them closer to Advent for you liturgically-minded folks out there!

If you have a business and would like to advertise on my sidebar, you can find information about that here.

And now a big bummer: Facebook has YET AGAIN changed their algorithm for seeing posts from pages so you’re probably not seeing much from the Carrots FB page unless you go to the Carrots page, hover the like button, and choose “settings” and check “see all updates.” So, if you want to see updates from me, pretty please set it to “see all”? What a drag.

Happy Friday!

Love,

Haley

Oh my goodness! I have TOTALLY been meaning to look for beeswax Advent candles for this year. Perfect timing!! And I’m SO jealous of your Craigslist find. We need something like that in our backyard — our daughter has nothing to do back there.

Your kids are the cutest. And thanks for the link love!!

Loved your post. And these candles are the bestest. I’m kind of a loon about buying beeswax candles instead of parafin.

Love the picture of Lucy…you can just see the attitude in that face. 🙂
I have a special fondness for St. Charles Lwanga and the Martyrs of Uganda. I was at daily Mass on their feast day, and I was overwhelmed with emotion and got lost in the consecration of the Eucharist. It was one of the neatest things I have ever experienced.
I love the Beeswax Advent candles. I’ll be bookmarking that webpage!

How cool! I wasn’t familiar with St. Charles Lwanga before this year. But I’m really excited Daniel thought to include him.
