Holy Time: The Gift of the Liturgical Year

November 13, 2012 By Haley 19 Comments

“The liturgical year is not an idle discipline, not a sentimentalist definition of piety, not an historical anachronism. It is Jesus with us, for us, and in us as we strive to make His life our own. It is goad and guide to the kind of personal spirituality that is worthy of the Jesus whose commitment to the Word of God led Him all the way to the cross and beyond it—to Resurrection.” (Joan … [Read more...]

When Motherhood Is Hard

November 12, 2012 By Haley 23 Comments

Becoming a mother is truly one of the very best things that has ever happened to me. I get so much joy and satisfaction from raising my babies. But I don't want to give the impression that it's always sunshine and rainbows over here. And if I'm honest, I'll confess that I've just come out the other side of a time when motherhood was a little dark and very difficult. A time when I'm faced with the … [Read more...]

This Week’s Miscellany: Vol. 31

November 10, 2012 By Haley 7 Comments

It's been emotional over here. Tuesday would have been the due date for a dear friend's baby that she lost to miscarriage. My heart hurt for her all week. Late Wednesday night another friend delivered a healthy baby boy and I was filled with joy for their family. After weeks of barely functioning, I wasn't sure how long this no-vomiting spell would last so we called your … [Read more...]

This Week’s Miscellany: Vol. 30 (All Souls Edition)

November 2, 2012 By Haley 12 Comments

First things first! So happy to announce that dear friend and occasional Carrots contributor Katherine and her wonderful husband John welcomed a precious baby boy (their first) into the world on Halloween! He is just perfect and I'm itching to get to Boston to snuggle him. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. In the Liturgical Year:  We have had the best time celebrating Hallowtide! We've … [Read more...]
